I was a regular volunteer at Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto. At the temple, I got my initial experience working with children by assisting teachers in the children's class and was a member of the Buddhist youth group (BLIA-YAD Toronto) that consists of teenagers and young adults. We worked as a team to organize various activities and events to contribute to the society and educate people what Buddhism is. Taking on a leadership role, I guided younger members in coordinating events so they can develop the same leadership skills needed at school or in the workplace in the future. The temple has influenced my life greatly and these experiences in working with children and teenagers made me realize the importance of education and its impact on the well-being of young people.
